In May 2023 there will be elections for Mansfield District Council, and for a new Mayor of Mansfield to lead that organisation.
The Conservatives have chosen Cllr Andre Camilleri as their candidate to replace the Labour Mayor and Labour-led Council in May.
In recent decades the Council has been entirely run by Independent and Labour Councillors and Mayors. The Conservatives have never been in charge here, and whilst we've made major changes as a community in electing a Conservative MP and Conservative County Councillors in the last two election, MDC is still stuck in the past.
The District Council is responsible for many of the very local issues that affect residents day to day, from your bin collections to the regeneration of the town centre. If we're going to get things right, we need a new leader and new administration that will really drive change. It's not good enough to just continue to drift! As MDC are responsible for the implementation of so many transformative things (like our town centre projects as just one example) we really do need proper leadership and capable politicians in charge of it if we are to deliver on 'Levelling Up'.
Make a change in May! No more drift from Labour and the Independents. Let's try something different and support our Conservative MP, Ben Bradley, and our Conservative County Council to make change, by adding this last bit of the jigsaw and electing a Conservative MDC.
