🔹 HALVE INFLATION 🔹 GROW THE ECONOMY 🔹 REDUCE DEBT 🔹 CUT WAITING LISTS 🔹 STOP THE BOATS - This year the government set out five key objectives that reflect the priorities of people across Mansfield.
Halve inflation this year to ease the cost of living and give people financial security. Grow the economy creating better-paid jobs and opportunity right across the country. Reduce debt so that we can secure the future of public services. Cut waiting lists so people will get the care they need more quickly. Stop the boats so if you come to the country illegally, you’re detained and swiftly removed.
As the government continues to make progress rebuilding the economy in the wake of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine, I will do everything I can to drive more of this investment to Mansfield, putting our town at the front of the queue when it comes to securing new funding and support for our key priorities.
Government has invested hundreds of billions of pounds in protecting incomes and employment over the last few years, and now we are prioritising people's health and wellbeing as well as our economy. So far employment has held up well and investment in areas like Mansfield continues to be a priority going forward.
Mansfield will soon have a new Community Diagnostic Centre, which will be built and up and running next year helping to reduce waiting lists, it will employ the latest technology to deliver MRI scans, CT scans, ultrasound scans, cardiology, X-rays, blood tests and respiratory examinations. Annually, this will help an estimated 117,000 patients to get the checks they need as soon as possible, with quicker and easier access to treatment if a diagnosis is made.
Access to healthcare is essential to rebuilding and growing our economy, with more people in work also reducing the burden on the system as a whole. I will continue to work with local councils, health providers and public health to reshape what is on offer for health and care in our county.
