I'm backing the Prime Minister's Brexit plans this week, and in the weeks ahead, as we move towards final deadlines at the end of the transition period.
We left the EU in January and we promised that after December 31st this year we'll be a totally independent nation. If the EU are still making threats about imposing borders in our internal UK market and they're refusing to offer us the same kinds of agreements that they were quite happy to give to other nations like Canada, then frankly they are not keeping to their side of the bargain.
The PM is therefore right to put plans in place for next year, to protect the Union, and to follow through on the firm deadlines he's set in this process. Enough is enough, and one way or another this will be done and dusted on December 31.
