A second vaccination from a different source now showing high levels of effectiveness, adding to the optimism about being able to move forward if we can protect the elderly and vulnerable then we can start to reopen our economy!
To clear up some regular concerns about vaccinations, let's tackle some of the usual comments:
1) nobody is making it compulsory!
2) it's not intended for the entire population anyway!
The aim is to protect the vulnerable - those who might die or get seriously ill and require hospital treatment. That's why the vaccine will be targeted at the elderly or clinically vulnerable. That way we can open things up and return to some kind of normal, without having to isolate vulnerable people in their homes - they'll be protected by the vaccine, which reduces the risk and reduces the strain on the NHS too.
If you're not elderly or ill - and not working in direct contact with people who are - then it's not aimed at you and you're not likely to be anywhere near the front of the queue, so let's not fill the comments with those queries pls - I've just answered them!
