Increasing councils' spending

Last night we confirmed the biggest increase in councils' spending power for a decade - ensuring local public services are properly supported, with a 4.4% real terms increase in funding.

This Government is making good on its promise to level up across the country and boost resources for vital publics services, so that people can feel safe in their homes and access high quality local services.

Conservative MPs voted to approve additional funding for both our hardworking police and for local councils. Police budgets will rise by up to £1.1 billion and local authorities will share an additional £2.9 billion this year - benefitting communities across England.

Through this funding increase, communities across the whole country will see the change they voted for - more money for our public services, more police on our streets and better and more interconnected public transport. We are ensuring no part of the country is left behind.
