Macmillan Cancer Support

This week I met with Macmillan Cancer Support at their event in Parliament, where we discussed the balancing act that is the pressures and requirements of boosting NHS nursing (ably demonstrated by Bella the Macmillan nurse in this picture, of course.)

A cause close to my heart after my my late-grandad gave so much time to the charity as a regional organiser and even, on many occasions I remember from my childhood, donning a clown costume to entertain the kids at fundraising events. Macmillan nurses offered so much support when he got cancer himself and I know were a huge source of comfort.

I was pleased to hear that they have such a good relationship with Government and there's an ongoing conversation about how charities like Macmillan can best work together with (and in support) of the NHS.
