Positive rumours this morning that the PM will make an announcement on plans for International Development and Foreign Office to merge.
For quite some time I've been calling for us to rethink our foreign aid proposals, to ensure that things are done in a more strategic way. Having these decisions being made in line with our overall international strategy rather than just chucking out money in order to meet an arbitrary target will be far better and more effective!
Looking forward to hearing more details from the PM later.
EDIT: The PM in the chamber right not - ''we must ensure that our aid budget is an instrument to exercise British priorities and British influence around the world...''
