I've received a lot of correspondence surrounding the proposed closer of Berry Hill Park and wanted to provide a quick update on what is happening.
Having had conversations now with all parties involved in decisions over the park, I'm increasingly optimistic that there is a solution available.
Mansfield District Council, CISWO and the Trustees will meet on the 22nd November to broker arrangements for the Council to take on the management of the park as Corporate Trustees, which should enable them to keep the park open and not require housing to be built. That's good news for everyone.
I feel that all parties are willing to discuss this kind of arrangement (at least all have told me that they are), but we all know that, of course, the devil will be in the detail. I will continue to speak with all parties and monitor this closely to ensure that in the short term the park can be kept open.
I have secured funding in the Government's Budget specifically for coalfield sports facilities that can potentially help in the medium term with the financial security and improvements to the park once it's back on a stable footing.
I'll continue to post updates here and on my Facebook page.
