Today has unexpectedly been very football orientated!
This morning I played for UK Parliament FC against (and in support of) The Childhood Trust, who work to overcome disadvantage for young people. It's great to be able to raise awareness of the charity (and, let's face it, I need the exercise..) Find out more about the brilliant work of the Childhood Trust here.
Despite losing 5-2, my performance was so good that I received a trophy, which you can see me pictured with. On an entirely unrelated note, I also had a chat with the Premier League about their investment programmes and the Football Foundation, which includes half a million pounds for the new Woburn training facility at Mansfield Town Football Club. Fantastic news!
To top it all off, I contributed some ideas about the funding of grassroots sport in Westminster Hall this afternoon. I also managed to get a brief mention of Mansfield Town Football Club in there! Have a look over on my YouTube channel (and subscribe, if you haven't already!)
My day wasn't all about football though, I had a great meeting with Tes to talk about teacher recruitment, the services and analysis they provide both to schools/teachers and in training and qualifying/recruiting new teachers too.Really interesting discussion about the future, connected with my role on the Education Select Committee.
