I just wanted to share some positive news! I was really pleased to see figures released last week that show over 340,900 first-time buyers have been helped onto the housing ladder thanks to Conservative reforms to stamp duty.
There have been 340,900 claims for first-time buyers' relief since its introduction in November 2017, which has helped people save up to £5,000 on the purchase of their first home, and the total amount saved by first-time buyers since we introduced the relief is an estimated £804 million.
Locally, 738 families have benefited from help to buy schemes. While there is still more to do, I'm really pleased that hundreds of people across Mansfield and Warsop have been able to buy a home locally. I was delighted to be able to go and 'cut the ribbon' on my little sister's new home in Woodhouse, which was purchased using the scheme.
We're building more houses too, which will make buying a home more affordable. There have been more than 246,000 new homes built over the past year across the country.
